#closebutnobanana JEWISH LIFE IN KARLSRUHE TODAY - AN ART PROJECT

July-December 2021

Supported by the BW Art Innovation Fund

"Close - but no banana" means that "everything that has been missed is also outdated" and refers to the general lack of knowledge of the population about Jewish life in Karlsruhe today.

Verok Gnos, Elke Hennen, Jutta Hieret, Iris Kamlah and Gloria Keller from GEDOK Karlsruhe reflect on their perceptions in order to promote an open social dialogue through artistic means.

Through visualisations of individual texts, playful performances and narrative installations in the public space, impartiality and evidence can become possible.

Poster actions, screenings, installations, musical and culinary events, exhibitions in the public space in Karlsruhe and in various locations are planned.
